MEET THE CREW

Our crew are a dedicated bunch! They train hard for emergency situations, with training days on Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings. All crew carry pagers and are on call 24:7 all year round, ready to respond as and when the call comes.
Apart from training twice a week, we also undertake formal education to gain appropriate qualifications.
We practice various rescue scenarios, so we are well prepared when the call comes. Sometimes the coxswain is in a mischievous mood and sets multiple events for us to solve. So don’t be alarmed if you see us rushing around using all our equipment, we are pressure testing ourselves. We also work and train with our flanking lifeboat stations and the local Coastguard teams.
But we recognise not everyone wants to do all this and it is important to understand we have jobs for everyone, that are less strenuous.
As an Independent Lifeboat, we have to do everything ourselves. Maybe you could help with administration, fund raising, station maintenance, first aid, radio communications, or even just washing down the boats. Our crew multi task but have tremendous fun, receive no remuneration but feel well rewarded for their efforts.
Meet some of them below or better still, come to the station and have a
chat about joining us.
